January 31, 2005 Troop Guest
John Brackney

John Brackney, President South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce

Served as Arapahoe County Commissioner from 1997 - 2003

Former Troop 358 Boy Scout John Brackney will be our guest on Monday, January 31, 2005.

Brackney joined Troop 358 in February 1977 when he was 10 years old. Bob Yackel was his scoutmaster.

During his time with the troop, Brackney earned 35 merit badges, served as Senior Patrol Leader twice, was elected into Order of the Arrow, and reached the rank of Life Scout.

Also, he attended Philmont Scout Ranch with Mr. Yackel (and we know there are great stories there!).

While Brackney has fond memories of his time as a scout, he does have a particular regret.

"My biggest regret ever is that I didn't complete my Eagle," said Brackney.

Brackney, who served with the National Guard Reserves for 12 years, lives in Centennial with his wife and two daughters.
