Dan Bailey became Troop 358's
scoutmaster on May 1, 2005.
Bailey, who has been an active
leader in the troop since 2000, and who has three sons in the
troop, earned his Eagle rank in 1973 at age 14 through his Boy Scout work with
Troop 967 in Havre de Grace, Maryland. As a young scout, he
enjoyed many camping and biking trips with his troop. His father became his
troop's scoutmaster late in 1973 and served in that role for four years.
Additionally, his father continued to serve Troop 967 and the district office
until his death in 1983.
Bailey became active in scouts again when his
sons joined cub scouts with Pack 559, sponsored by Sandburg Elementary in the
Littleton Public School District. Bailey served the pack through various
committee work and also served in the roles of committee chair and cubmaster.
In
2003, Bailey was awarded one of the highest BSA awards possible - a National
Heroism Award - after putting his
lifesaving scouting skills to work on the slopes of Copper Mountain.
Bailey,
an engineer, is a manager with Lockheed Martin, where he has been
employed for over 20 years.
