Bugling
competition (patrols can demonstrate different bugle calls to signal a common
group activity, like assembling for mealtime or striking a campsite; check out

Dog (cat) care
competition
Each patrol could bring a friendly dog (cat) - if this is okay with
scoutmaster & church - and demonstrate dog (cat) care and tricks.
Electricity
(each patrol could work on repairing a plug on an appliance cord, connect a
buzzer, bell or light w/ a battery, make and run a simple electric motor, etc.
. . )
Current events

"Henry Aldrich, Boy Scout" a 66-minute 1944 comedy about Henry, a
patrol leader, who has to deal with the new rich "BRAT" in the
troop. How does Henry work through this challenge?
Field
trip idea
Take the train to Union Station and to see the model train exhibit
(last Friday of each month is free and the people who built the model are on
hand to answer questions and do demonstrations)
Wildlife
Management
Construct artificial nest boxes (for squirrels? birds?) and erect them in your
backyards and check on them regularly.
Webelos
Fun Night
Host a Webelos Fun Night to recruit new scouts to the troop.
Invite them to the District's October camporee.
