Troop 358 leaders and scouts are available to attend Webelos cross-over ceremonies to celebrate a boyâ™s cross-over to Boy Scouts. Troop 358 is an active troop that meets Mondays from 7 to 8:30 pm at its charter organization, Shepherd of the Hills, 7691 South University, in Centennial, Colorado. The Troop is part of the Arapahoe District in the Denver Area Council. Troop 358 is open to all boys: who have earned the Arrow of Light Award If you and your Webelos scout are looking for a troop to join, perhaps the most important message for you is that the Boy Scout program, which is boy-led, is different than Cub Scouting. The concept of boy-led may sound simple, but it can be a major culture shock for Webelos and their families! The boys learn by doing and also by failing. Even second and third year parents need to hear the boy-led message often. What you'll see in our program is Boy Scouts planning the weekly meetings, the monthly outings, and the awards ceremonies. While there is guidance from the adult leaders, some meetings and outings look like complete chaos, but thatâ™s okay. Every mistake made by a scout in charge is considered a learning experience. As time passes, you will be rewarded as you watch the Troop 358 Scouts transition from young boys to young men. You will feel pride as you experience a program that is a direct reflection of the maturing, learning, and growing process of our sons. In Troop 358, we ask that parents refrain from too much direct involvement with their sonâ™s advancement. What we do want is for parents to provide support for their scouts at home. We also ask for parent involvement in the areas of special projects and troop events. Finally, parents are always welcome to participate in our monthly camping trips and other activities, we just ask that you donâ™t clean up your sonâ™s tent or try to take over the cooking. |
