Shawn Smith became Troop 358's scoutmaster in June of 2009.
Shawn, has been an active leader in the troop since 2004, and has two sons who have been involved in the troop. The youngest son is currently a Life Scout working on his Eagle Rank. The older son is now a young adult living and working in Beijing, China.
Shawn was active in scouting as a youth in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. He originally joined the Boy Scouts to learn how to camp. He was in a very active troop whose scoutmaster was an excellent woodsmen and teacher. His early scouting experiences laid a foundation for his love of the outdoors and high adventure.
As a youth and adult, Shawn has stayed active in the outdoors as a technical rock and ice climber; professional whitewater raft guide; mountaineer, climbing many of Colorado’s 14ers; desert rat; skier; fly fisherman; and competitive sporting clays enthusiast.
For him, the most rewarding part of being scoutmaster is spending time with the boys and watching them learn and grow into fine young men.
Shawn has been involved in the Financial Services industry for the past 20 years including senior management with a Fortune 50 company. He currently owns his own company and is a Certified Financial Planner practitioner and Investment Advisor.
